HOW DO I STAY AWAKE WITHOUT COFFEE, SODA OR ENERGY DRINKS?
Question by Ginny R:
How do I stay awake without coffee, soda or energy drinks?
Is there a way to stay awake, alert & focused in the morning without coffee or soda? Coffee & soda dehydrates me & hurts my throat, that is why I do not like taking them unless I have no choice. Most energy drinks have soda in it, so that is out of the question too.
I share a small office space with several people, so stretching and exercising is also out of the question since that’d look weird if I suddenly begin doing yoga in the middle of the office
Any (healthy) ideas on how to stay awake?

Drinking more water throughout your day helps, but also having something light to snack on will help you stay awake, while still staying healthy

I would try to keep splashing cold water in my face because apparently it keeps you awake!

Mild dehydration is the most common cause of fatigue. Make sure you are drinking enough water!
Also, eat a good breakfast. Pop Tarts really don’t cut it (although they sure are tasty.) A great breakfast includes whole grains, vegetables (yes, vegetables), fruits, and protein. I understand that this isn’t always a realistic goal, but it will be worth it.

i have the same questions and i just want to say that splashing my face in the middle of a lecture is not an option.
yes… it would be quite awkward if you started doing yoga suddenly… you should convince your colleagues to do yoga, so it won’t be so weird

Soda is very very bad. Not sure why you would have an issue with coffee unless you are dehydrated on a constant basis which is even worse than drinking soda. You might try a soap that has a citrus scent in the morning. Same goes for Shampoo and Conditioner if you use them. Citrus is known to wake a person’s senses up. It’s nearly impossible to stay sleepy after just smelling a lemon or an orange. You could try eating citrus with breakfast.
Perhaps you could also get a morning workout done before you head off to work.
I know it might look weird to do stretches at work, but you just might need to, and it might be good for you too. Who knows, maybe your coworkers will follow your example.
